Hard Drive Replacement Steps
I have an iMac g3 400mhz DV edition, which came with a 10gb hard drive. I have used all 10gb and
recently replaced the original with a Seagate Barricude IV 7200rpm 40gb hard drive. The steps I
found and used were lackluster, so I decided to create my own, and here they are!
If you see a word in blue, then there is something in the photo that is colored blue, so you can
easily find what I'm talking about.
These steps should work with any slot laoding imac.
*iMac case my be hard to pull off, just pull.
*Jumper settings determine whether the drive is going to be primary, or slave.
the jumper is the black ring around a set of pins on the top of the hard drive. Look at
the hard drive instructions, or manufactures' web site to see what formation the jumper/s should
be in (There can be more than one.) Do not mimic the settings of the hard drive you are replacing.
To remove a jumper, use a set of eagle nosed pliers to take the jumper off one set of pins and place
it on the right set.
